The Chang Gung Proton Therapy Center offers particle therapy against cancer using proton beam, which minimizes useless irradiation towards adjacent normal tissues and concentrates its doses on the lesion. Through VR simulation, the medical staff will be able to locate patient’s optimal lying position before actual treatment, which reduces patient’s treatment time and increases satisfaction level.
The simulation system begins with reconstructing gantry treatment room and equipment into virtual world. And physical guiding algorithm is applied for anti-collision between patient and hardware. Finally, the virtual avatar with ROI (region of interest) based on DICOM is introduced into the system for further simulation against cancer treatment.
